Actually, He climbed the tree and picked us figs, as we were sipping our teas. In honor of Frank and Jenny’s fig tree from our recent tea event:
I decided to make this next Ayurveda post on Figs.
Did you know figs are great for rejuvenation after child birth? Figs are a natural tonic for energy and vitality as they are rich in ojas (digestive fire), plus high in fiber. Their tiny seeds stimulate peristaltic movements of the intestines, and can be soothing for the delicate tissues of the colon. Figs are naturally Sweet, Alkalizing, Ojas, Sattvic (means easy to digest).... As legend has it, Buddha achieved enlightenment under the bodhi tree, a large and old sacred fig tree, so it is known as the heavenly fruit.
In late summer and fall is when the tree drops the yummiest tasting figs around.
Best way to have Figs... Soak overnight in water then drink and consume figs in the morning. The seeds alone will stimulate the sexual reproduction organs.
Jenny and Frank are Living Wholly... They are due to have a child this Oct! a perfect time to conjure up a Figgy recipe when Figs are the most plentiful!! www.iamlivingwholly.com
