After an energy filled fourth of July weekend, we need to take this week and give our hips a good stretch, so our bodies get some well deserve rest. This Spinal Twist is one of our favorites... try it before bed, or better yet as soon as you get up.
Spinal Twist Pose
Lie on your back and draw both knees into your chest. Spread your arms open, like wings and drop the knees to one side, turning your gaze to the opposite side. Place hand onto of outer thigh to add more resistance to your twist. Allow gravity to pull the knee down, so you do not have to use any effort in this posture. If your shoulder/hips begin to float up, place a blanket under the shoulder or a bolster along the spine. Breathe and hold for 6-10 breaths, Repeat on the other side. This should be a completely relaxing and yummy pose. Continue to repeat this pose for rest of the week, and you'll feel more rested as the week goes on.
